Tired of your Staycation? Join us in Seattle!
by Bob Fraustein, IEUGA Events Chair
This year’s conference is in a beautiful Pacific Northwest setting. So, while we will present important strategic information about Expandable, technical backbone council, and this year a nuts and bolts track for training staff, why not break away from the daily grind and rejuvenate yourself at the same time?
Most of us know about the Seattle Space Needle, but did you know about the “Experience Music Project”? It’s a short distance from our conference hotel and comes highly recommended. Thursday after our conference, the EMP is presenting “What does Punk look like on paper?”, a panel discussion on the phenomenon of poster art and its role in the evolution of the American Avant-garde. So, enjoy the tunes and maybe learn something…
How about popping over to Vancouver Island for High Tea at the Queen Victoria Hotel? Did you know there is an extensive display of military miniatures in dioramic settings in the basement of the hotel? (Don’t forget your passport to enter Canada).
Back to our host city, walk about Seattle underground. The original city downtown is really down under current grade level.
Or, do you like to eat? There are many famous eateries within easy distance from the hotel.
And then there is the spectacular Pacific Northwest all around. Plenty of day trips to experience the ambiance.
Consider arriving a few days early, or stay through the weekend following the conference. You’ll be filled with great information at the conference, renew and generate great friendships with people using Expandable, and get to “pick the brains” of the Expandable team. It’s hard to beat this value. I hope to see you there!
